If you have access/registered with Mercedes Me:
Mercedes Portal:
Live Traffic Information
Navigation with real-time traffic data.
Whether travelling home during rush hour or undertaking a journey further afield – Live Traffic Information will always find the best way to get you to your destination. Your navigation system receives traffic data in real time, enabling it to optimise the dynamic route guidance. Thanks to precise and constantly updated information about traffic jams, stop-and-go traffic and average speeds on main roads, Live Traffic Information keeps driving times to a minimum.
Your benefits at a glance:
- Improved navigation thanks to real-time traffic data (e.g. early warning of traffic jams or stop-and-go traffic)
- Dynamic route guidance with shorter driving times
- More precise estimation of arrival times
Notes on operation in the vehicle:
With the optional extra COMAND Online, Daimler AG provides free use of Live Traffic Information for a period of three years. Please note that the service will function in the vehicle only if you activate it from purchase on the Mercedes me Portal.
To do so, please define your vehicle on the Mercedes me Portal (menu item "My vehicles > Define new vehicle"). You will then be guided through all the necessary steps, including vehicle activation, consent to the terms of use and service activation. If necessary, your authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer will also be happy to assist you with this.
You can activate or deactivate Live Traffic Information at any time on the Mercedes me Portal under "Manage Mercedes me connect > Manage services".

On previous versions of Comand as you say you could see all traffic reports. On my 2018 E, the only way I have found to see any 'reports' is to move the cursor over a 'traffic' icon and it gives you more details. I think they assume that as the Map displays the delays in minutes of each 'event' you don't need to know more !

On our C250d with NTG5*2...
Input destination and let the system calculate the route.
Along the bottom of the Nav screen:
Select 'Traffic'
-----> 'Notifications for selected route'
Then scroll through the messages.

Interesting thing, live traffic. I have it in my 2017 E-Class and coming home from Southampton on Friday I checked before going on the M27 (my usual route) only to see that it was solid traffic for a good 5 miles as everyone headed down to the coast. So I went on the back roads and as we drove over the (still jammed according to 'live traffic') motorway, we looked right and left - and guess what, the road was quieter than I have seen it for a long time. Hardly a car in sight for as far as we could see (almost a mile in each direction).
Don't you just love trusting technology?

His 2011 ML will have the free TMC service.
His 2018 E-Class will have the TomTom Live Traffic service, which automatically disables the free TMC.
So the two traffic info systems on his cars are very different.

Yeah, I understand that, but we should still be able to get such information?
I just don't understand how on the W213 car you are able to get details of problems in the area.
My wife's A200 for example (think its MY2017) you get get details of delays in the area, it even tells you how long the delay is likely to be - all at the press of a button.
My car just shows different colours for the roads, which isn't much a huge amount of use.
I guess I should really just read the manual, but I just didn't expect it should be that difficult.
It shows me the live traffic indicator on the screen, and I do get the occasional voice telling me about approaching end of queue's, which I believe is down to Car to X communications
All the features are enabled via the portal.

What Infotainment system do you have on each car? E.g. COMAND 5.5, MBUX, Audio20 etc.
And do you have the Live Traffic subscription for each car? Or TMC?

On mine (2018 car with a Comand NTG5*2) the “Traffic” menu option (bottom left on the navigation screen, from memory) has various options to read traffic messages on the route, by specific road, etc.

Hi this is my first post. I came here due to confusion about traffic announcements.
My 2019 E300de is over 6000 miles old and I’ve only once ever had a traffic bulletin come in over the radio even though the option is ticked and TA displays when the radio is on screen.
I have Comand and the Mercedes Me ‘stuff’ including Live Traffic Information. Do I read from the above that when I’m using Sat Nav I won’t get radio alerts because they are disabled?
Conversely (and I know I can test this tomorrow!) if I don’t programme a destination does this mean I will get radio alerts?
Not saying I want radio alerts really lol just want to understand how the car works. Because it’s a hybrid I use the Sat Nav routinely so the car can manage the hybrid settings.

Welcome.
If you are referring to my post above, then what I said was that Traffic Message Channel (TMC) gets disabled when Live Traffic is enabled.
Traffic Announcements (TA) is a separate system, and I don't know if this gets disabled too when Live Data is enabled.
Both TMC and TA use the Radio Data System (RDS) to receive information, but as said these are two different systems.
TMC works with the satnav, TA works with the FM radio or DAB.
So if one is disabled it does not necessarily follow that the other won't work either.
Perhaps someone with an active TomTom Live Traffic Data subscription can confirm if TA is still active?

My car says COMAND APS NTG5/NTG5.5
Wife's car says AUDIO 20 RADIO NAVIGATION CAPABLE NTG5
Both cars have the live traffic subscription.
About the TA comments, I do get get those announcement via a radio channel, and for what its worth, they are only ever via one local station called Radio Ulster.
The other local stations don't seen to transmit TA's.
Then I get the Car to X messages in my car which are spoken by the car, usually it says something about either a queue, or a hazard.
I looked a the settings last night in the navigation options, it does say that traffic delay's etc are enabled, perhaps they only work when you have setup navigation to take you somewhere.

I have Audio 20 with live traffic updates and TA works but as above only from one radio station.
For the TomTom live traffic i have to be in navigation then I can select traffic in area and it will give me a list of traffic and roadworks in the area.

COMAND and Audio20 are two very different units (in spite of both sharing the term 'NTG').
COMAND has built-in navigation software, with the maps residing on an internal storage unit (HDD/SSD).
Audio20 does not have built-in navigation, instead this option is added via an SD-Card that holds both the navigation software (Garmin Map Pilot) and the maps.
Both COMAND navigation and Garmin Map Pilot use a customised version of the TomTom Live Traffic Data which is available as a separate subscription.
Traffic on router will be displayed differently on COMAND and on Audio20 because (again) the navigation software is different.
TA is a separate RDS-based system, and should work regardless of whatever navigation system is being used (and it will also work event if the optional Garmin Map Pilot SD-Card is not present).
When TA is enabled, you will hear the normal radio broadcast stopped from time to time, and replaced by a traffic announcement, providing information of traffic in your area (though not necessarily on your route, because TA does not interact with the navigation system and does not know your intended route).
There will also be the letters 'TA' showing on the radio display. Said that, if you mostly drive around areas where TA stations' reception is poor, or rural areas where there aren't usually any traffic jams, you might not get to hear any traffic announcements even if the TA option is enabled.

OK, I see.
Its just different, you get the coloured lines on the roads to indicate something is up, then you get symbols to indicate roadworks.
I also enabled petrol prices on the portal, and I now see that petrol prices are appearing beside refuelling stations which is quite cool.
I assume traffic delays etc only appear if you're using route guidance to get somewhere.
Does anyone else have a problem with Mercedes Places or weather app.
They are so hit and miss, sometimes they work, other times they say not available at this time.

Ok so TA is enabled (at least I can see TA at the top of the screen when in the radio). Journeyed in without setting a destination and I had no traffic advice broadcasts.
My commute is Cardiff to Swansea on the M4. In my XE I used to get bombarded by travel bulletins, National, local and Somerset. So it’s definitely something about the car not the location.
I had Apple CarPlay connected for the journey but also don’t see why that should make a difference.
As far as I can tell TA is enabled but not working.
Any further thoughts would be really welcomed.
